Phone Box Scene

Here is some of the footage we shot for our music video. We will use this footage we shot from 0.47 - 0.56 in our music video. The lyrics for this part of the song are:

these sidewalks liquid then stone
building walls and an old pay phone
it rings like all through the daylight
it rings like all through the daylight

Digipak Photoshoot Plan

Here are the pictures I took in my first digipak photo shoot for my six sided digipak. I wanted to capture images of mainly James' face so that the audience can gain eye contact with the artist on the front. I wanted to do this because it is an effective camera angle to have in my digipak as it's a striking image.

Filming Day 2- 17/11/13

On Sunday 17th November 2013 we undertook our second day of filming, but the first with our actor. We spent the day filming in Clifton and Bristol where we filmed at our various locations. We filmed in Clifton Village park, the Harbour side outside the RWA and inside the Bristol Museum which by the end of the day is around 40 seconds of our video. We were in Bristol and Clifton from around 09:00 - 15:30 where we walked around to our various locations and shot our scenes. We used our own camera, tripod and gimbal to shoot our music video for the still and moving image parts of our video. We shot what we needed to and all the itinerary we set we completed.

Actor Change

Our original actor (Middle, Top) let us down on all the days we wanted to film, so we made an informed decision to choose a different actor. Luckily for us we had lots of possibilities.

Our new actor is James Cooke (Bottom, Right), he has a very artistic background and we are hoping that he won't let us down. Therefore we are going to ensure that we plan everything with our actor so he cannot let us down.

Google Calendar

Through doing this Google Calendar I now know what I will be doing and when and I can organise my time a lot easier. This is because everything is a lot more organised.

Yellow Lines Scene Practice

This video is some of the footage we took when we went into Bristol and Clifton to film some of our music video such as the Time Lapse. We wanted to concentrate on a particular sequence which entails a long take. Here is the scene in chronological order:
  • Tracking of the yellow lines on the side of the road
  • Gradually bringing up the camera to knee height and our actor walking in to shot.
  • The camera tracking up his body to head height and an over the shoulder shot.
  • Tracking him from behind looking at the art museum which finishes the sequence as an establishing shot.
This video is a plan and a practice of what our real finished sequence will look like but we wanted to test how it might look when finished.

Weather For Second Day Of Filming: 17/11/2013

This weather is for Sunday 17th November when we will be shooting the majority of our music video with our actor Daniel Boulter. We thought planning ahead based on the weather is a beneficial planning technique because we can chose what to shoot and how to shoot it based on the weather.

Digipak Photo Shoot Plan

Through planning the photo shoot for my digipak I have managed to work out what type of pictures my digipak will have on them. This includes knowing which camera angles I will be using, what clothing I will be having my music artist in. As well as these two things I have planned the locations I will be shooting at and also the lighting and general mise en scene of each picture. This is a very good task to undertake because it makes my production process a lot easier as I know what I'm doing for each panel of my digipak.

Music Video Planning: Props

Here is a list of the props we wish to use in our music video

Here is a collage of the props we wish to use

Through doing this task we were able to plan which props we thought would look relevant and effective in our music video. We planned many props which we may or may not use however because we have done this task we are now sure of which ones we are going to use to what effect. In doing this we are now able to plan and compose an effective mise en scene for our video which is important because these parts of the mise en scene will stand out, which means we need to have good props planned and ready. The reason why we took it a step further and created a collage depicting the possible look and feel of our video was for the purpose of seeing what our music video may look like.

Music Artist Logo

This task was extremely helpful from start to finish because I was able to create my logo for my music artist stage by stage and record and screenshot what progress I have made. This way I could work with what I had made so that I could improve it. Eventually I came up with a logo I like which fits the genre of my music artist and also makes him stand out.

Also, because I didn't just create a name for my logo and made an image as well, my branding will be easier because I have an icon to work with. This can be used to put on clothing and other various merchandise instead of just a name which looks boring. This has made my branding more practical which is a benefit to my music artist as more people are going to be able to recognise the logo.

Here is what I created on Pages. The text isn't very visible on Popplet which is why I have published them on here as well.

Music Video Planning: Location

These locations are our main ones we will use because through them we can shoot a lot of our video. Also these are extremely relevant locations to the style and genre of the song which means that combined with the costume, it will fit in with the song.

Storyboard Video

This is a video of our story board which we have created for our music video. We produced this so that we know what we are going to be shooting over the course of our video.

Time Lapse Test

Time lapse is a style of cinematography that we will be using lots, therefore we decided to test it and see what we could improve for next rime. I have learnt that we need to use manual and set the focus etc. because we used auto and the lighting frequently changed and the camera in constantly moving. Therefore we will need to ensure that the tripod is on a flat surface and all the setting are correct. We also realised that filming cars didn't work because they would be in the picture but not the next, as if they were transporting, we would need to use less of an interval or not film fast moving objects. Overall it was really helpful to do this test so that we know how to improve everything for next time.

Music Video Planning: Fashion

Through doing this task we were able to see what fashion we would want based on the time of year, and theme of our music video. Also, based on the weather, a certain type of clothing would be relevant, which is why winter clothing is the type of clothing we want to have our performer wearing. Even though our music video has a happy theme of living life the way he wants, we may get our performer to wear less clothing than you would usually wear at winter. This can represent different themes such as happiness, being free and making use of the time we have in the day.

Day of Filming: Weather

This is the weather forecast for our first day of filming on this coming Sunday. As we can see, the weather is fairly good, just cloudy. We have decided that a lack of sunlight wouldn't affect our filming as such as we could therefore pay more attention to camera angles and editing if the mise en scene isn't up to such a high standard due to matters out of our control such as the weather.
